POOL MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, this position is primarily responsible for monitoring the activities at the swimming pool to include supervising all pool personnel, planning and organizing aquatic programs, special events and activities and assist swimmers. Responsible for safety compliance, daily maintenance, and chemicals on the pool grounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Direct and supervise the activities of pool, including supervision of pool personnel and patrons;
- Responsible for hiring and managing all pool personnel;
- Plans, organizes, and promotes aquatic programs to include swim lessons, camps, pool parties and special events;
- Manage class rosters, take registrations, process payments, and manage customer's accounts;
- Rescue swimmers in distress and performs first aid as necessary;
- Ensures testing of the pool water every two hours during pool operating hours is conducted to ensure proper chemical levels are compliant;
- Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of facility grounds;
- Coordinate's swim meets; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Must be at least 18 years old;
- Lifeguard Certification; required, American Red Cross, preferred; *
- First Aid/CPR Certification, required; *
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI), preferred;
- Certified Pool Operator, desired;
- One-year experience working as a lifeguard;
- One-year supervisory experience preferred;
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends, and special events when applicable; and
- Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
* Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR can be obtained through the City of Goose Creek Recreation Department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of water rescue methods.
- Knowledge of life guarding and First Aid.
- Knowledge of pool maintenance and chemicals used in pool maintenance.
- Ability to teach swim classes.
- Ability to supervise staff.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Ability to save swimmers in distress.
- Ability to provide basic first aid.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to provide customer service to include problem solving and dispute resolution when necessary.
- Ability to handle stress and work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use computers and various software programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires lifting people out of the pool and the following physical abilities: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed outdoors at the pool with constant exposure to weather and risks involved around water.
